Our Story

Founded in 1954, The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation (KLEF) is a charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to provide vision services through education, detection, prevention, treatment and empowerment.  Through collaborative partnerships, we enable greater independence and increased quality of life for all Kentuckians while focusing on children and adults in financial need.

The Foundation’s activities are supported through funds contributed by Lions & Lioness Clubs, individual members, businesses, benefactors, fundraising events,  memorials and bequests.

Child In Speech Therapy

KidSight

The Kentucky KidSight program is a vision screening program started by the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation in 2004 in which Lions Clubs and volunteers throughout the Commonwealth organize and conduct vision screenings for children ages 6 months to 6 years old.

Cataract Surgery

Patron Fund

The Patron Fund Program helps those Kentuckians with no insurance or limited insurance to obtain medically necessary eye surgeries.  We work with local surgeons and surgery centers to ensure that we offer the best services while remaining as cost effective as possible.

Eyeglass Assistance

Many Lions Clubs in Kentucky offer assistance with purchasing glasses for those in need in their communities.  Most have an application that must be completed for an individual to be considered.  KLEF can help you find your local Lions Club.

Old Glasses

Recycle Eyeglasses

Donate glasses and change someone's life.  Glasses can be dropped at any Lions Eyeglass Recycling Box around Kentucky.  Most of the usable glasses are used in mission trips to foreign countries to provide sight to poverty stricken communities.
